A man wanted on a warrant for allegedly assaulting his estranged girlfriend at her home last month now faces a new charge after allegedly threatening her during a telephone call Saturday.

Audie D. Moore, 48, who is homeless, is accused of calling Deanna Lober at her home on Mitchell Road and threatening to kill her, South Strabane police said. Lober called police at their station about 5:30 p.m. requesting help in obtaining an emergency protection-from-abuse order.

District Judge Jay Weller issued a warrant for Moore’s arrest on June 5, two days after he allegedly assaulted Lober at the home they once shared. Lober told police that she and Moore were sitting in the yard talking when they started arguing.

Lober tried to get up and walk away, but Moore reportedly grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the ground, police said. Moore then allegedly choked her, causing her to lose consciousness.

When Lober came to, she ran into the house and got her 5-year-old daughter. She then went into her father’s room so she could hide his unloaded handgun from Moore. Moore allegedly came into the bedroom and threw her to the floor. She told police he grabbed the gun and twisted her hand, taking the weapon off of her. He again started strangling her, telling her he was going to kill her, police said.

Lober was able to grab her daughter and flee from the house.

Moore was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and terroristic threats. He was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for July 30 before District Judge Jay Weller.
