WAYNESBURG – Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation recently held its sixth annual golf benefit at Rohanna’s Golf Course in Waynesburg. It was the largest turnout in the brief history of the event with 19 teams registered to compete.

Taking home first place with a score of 16 under par was Behm Funeral Homes, composed of Dave Mariner, Jeff Criss, Bob Dean and Dave Cosgray. Four strokes behind in second place was the team from First Federal of Greene County with John Mariner, Scott O’Neil, Mike Spevock and Tony Negley. And making a bit of history, third place went to KM Enterprises, an all-female team that managed to finish at 11 under par. Penny Ketchem, Brenda Boyd, Barb Barchiesi and Becky Salosky were the team of ladies that placed well ahead of many of the remaining 16 teams.

Skills prizes were awarded as well with John Mariner and Dr. Amy Diamond each taking home multiple prizes. Additional skill prizes went to Brenda Boyd, Joy Eggleston, Steve Cogar and Jeff Criss. The 2013 Miss Rain Day contestants were on hand volunteering their time to help the cause and make sure everyone had a good time.

The real winners from the day were Greene County and the foundation by raising thousands of dollars that will go to support countless initiatives designed to improve the health and well-being of people who call Greene County home. Many local organizations help sponsor this event such as Alpha Natural Resources, First National Bank of Pa., Padgett Business Services, Tulsa Inspection Resources, Southwest Regional Medical Center and Waynesburg University.

The foundation’s next fundraiser will be the Harvest Ball at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort Nov. 2.
