The state Department of Transportation is reminding drivers that the outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East (Interstate 376) in Pittsburgh will be closed this weekend.

The closure will occur around the clock from 10 tonight through 6 a.m. Monday. Crews will continue the replacement of concrete bridge slabs inside the tunnel, test the ventilation system and install the over-height truck detection system.

Signs will be posted for the detour. The detour will require eastbound traffic to form a single lane getting off at the Squirrel Hill/Homestead interchange. Significant delays should be expected. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
