Two teenagers compete for Miss Greene County Fair
WAYNESBURG – Two young women will compete Saturday to determine who will receive the crown of Miss Greene County Fair 2013.
The new fair queen will reign over all contests and events related to this year’s Greene County Fair, which runs from Sunday through Aug. 10. The winner will serve as the fair’s ambassador at all special events.
The new queen will be determined by a personal interview; an impromptu question; a brief speech on “What My Fair Means to My Community,” a written essay based on reasons for wanting to be the fair queen; and an evening gown competition.
The public can watch Miss Greene County Fair hopefuls give their speeches at 4 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
The winner will succeed Christa Ziefel, 17, daughter of Dave and Cathy Ziefel, Graysville, who will be a senior at West Green Central High School this fall.
The contestants are:
• Chelsey Wilson, daughter of Amy and Doug Wilson, of Waynesburg, will be a senior at Jefferson-Morgan Junior-Senior High School. She is a member of the Junior National Honor Society, marching and concert bands and the 4-H rabbit club.
She won the American Legion essay contest and received the American Legion Citizenship Award.
Wilson said her favorite part of the fair is the animals and people that she has a chance to see.
• Sadie Wright, daughter of Jeff and Pan Wright, of Mt. Morris, will be a freshman at Waynesburg University majoring in pre-medicine and biology. She was a member of the National Honor Society, 4-H and was in the top 20 percent of her graduating class.
She also is an FFA state level representative and ambassador.
Wright said the people she admires the most are her parents for teaching her the value of hard work and respect for others as well as herself.
