Train death reported in W.Va.

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (AP) – Police in St. Alban’s are investigating the second train death in Kanawha County within 24 hours.

According to media reports, a 55-year-old St. Albans man was struck and killed by a CSX train Saturday afternoon. His identity has not been released.

Investigators said the train’s operator followed appropriate stopping procedures after the man was seen on the tracks.

Friday night, an Amtrak passenger train struck and killed a person in Hansford. Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating.

The train was en route from New York to Chicago. The death delayed the train for several hours.
