Man who threatened paralyzed police officer sentenced

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man who threatened a paralyzed Pittsburgh-area police officer and disrupted a court hearing has been sentenced to 35 to 70 months in prison.
Judge Beth Lazzara sentenced 44-year-old Irvin Glaze on Wednesday.
In August 2012 Glaze threatened Clairton police officer James Kuzak outside a courthouse. Glaze threatened to knock Kuzak out of his wheelchair after two other men were acquitted of homicide charges in connection with the April 2011 home-invasion that left Kuzak paralyzed. Glaze also took a swing at a sheriff’s deputy.
One of the men was convicted of other charges.
Defense attorney Blaine Jones says Glaze has a number of mental health issues, including schizophrenia.
Lazzara says she tried to help Glaze through mental health court, but he couldn’t follow the program.
