ROGERSVILLE – Mattison H. Evans, who will be a senior this fall at West Greene High School, has been selected by Unit 330 American Legion Auxiliary, Waynesburg, to attend Keystone Girls State.

This “Experience in Government” will be held at Shippensburg University June 23-29 and is the 68th session sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.

About 200 girls are brought together through sponsorship of local auxiliary units and other organizations to study government on city, county and state levels.

During the week the girls will elect city, county and state officials, including governor, lieutenant governor, other officers and an outstanding citizen. Two senators will attend Girls Nation in the Washington, D.C., area in July.

Evans is a daughter of Chad and Alanna Scott of Graysville. She is a member of National Honor Society and participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science. She received the Academic Achievement Award along with an academic letter and is a member of the science club, drama club and president of the Spanish club. She also is a member of the track team.

Outside of school, Evans volunteers with the elderly at the Respicenter in Waynesburg. She plans to attend college and major in biology.
