Tech glitch prompts mistrial in Pa. murder case

YORK (AP) – A software glitch leads to a mistrial in central Pennsylvania for a man charged in the stabbing death of a woman who lived next door.
Thirty-year-old Jovon Jones of York is charged in the May 16 slaying of 42-year-old Alesia Martin.
The mistrial was declared as prosecutors showed the jury videos of Jones’ statements to police after Martin was killed.
As one of the videos winds down, Jones and a detective can be heard discussing an unrelated burglary investigation in which Jones was cleared of wrongdoing.
That snippet mistakenly played for the jury halted the trial and a mistrial was declared.
Prosecutor Tim Barker said he wasn’t sure how long it would take to get the case back on the trial docket.
