Charges against a Pennsylvania state police trooper accused of pushing his wife down a flight of stairs during a domestic dispute were dismissed Monday when the woman did not testify.

Paul Mauser, 39, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday before District Judge Charles Christner in West Newtown, Westmoreland County.

Christner dismissed the charges when Mauser’s wife, Jennifer, declined to offer testimony.

Mauser was charged with making terroristic threats, aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment following an argument with his wife at their Sutersville home in February.

Jennifer Mauser was treated at a Greensburg hospital for a broken ankle. There, she told the medical staff about the alleged assault.

Mauser was free on bond and residing with his mother in Donora. He was placed on unpaid leave.

A message left with Belle Vernon barracks section commander Sgt. Eric McKean on whether Mauser would return to work there was not immediately returned.
