A state police fire marshal is investigating a suspicious fire Tuesday night that damaged a vacant house at 150 McCarrell Ave., Washington.
Washington fire Chief Linn Brookman said the fire began on the back porch of the house. The fire then spread through the back wall and into the structure, damaging about five rooms in the house owned by Jason and Wendy Debnar of Marianna.
The 911 center received numerous calls about 10:50 p.m. regarding the fire.
One Washington firefighter was treated at Washington Hospital for dehydration and released, Brookman said.
Brookman called out an additional platoon to help fight the fire. The rapid intervention team from the North Strabane Township and Peters Township fire departments also assisted.
Brookman said the fire departments cleared the scene about 2:30 a.m.
