Car strikes pole: Sierra Nicole Kelley, 19, of 440 Duncan Ave., and her two passengers were uninjured when the vehicle Kelley was operating struck a telephone pole, shearing it in half, Thursday night. Police said Kelley told them she momentarily took her eyes off the road while traveling on South Central Avenue.
Credit cards stolen: State police received a report that credit cards and identification were removed from a filing cabinet at Kade Health and Rehabilitation Center on West Wylie Avenue. Police said the theft occurred between 2:50 and 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Charged in wreck: Brandon D. Shanks, 20, of Washington, faces numerous traffic violations stemming from an accident on Interstate 79 June 4. State police said Shanks was traveling north at a high speed and failed to see a motorcycle operating in the right lane. Shanks swerved to the left, went across the median, struck a culvert and ended up in the southbound lanes with two flattened tires. Neither Shanks nor his passenger was injured, police said.
