• Date: June 17

• Action: The district moved one step closer to building a multimedia production facility. Board members voted to purchase a mobile video system, which includes Sony cameras, microphones and other studio equipment at a cost of $68,128. Earlier this year, Burgettstown received a $20,000 grant from the Benedum Foundation to create the studio. The rest of the money will come from the district’s capital improvement fund.

Dr. Deborah Jackson, superintendent, said the district would renovate an unused classroom in the high school building for the studio.

The board accepted the final 2013-14 budget of $18,022,932 that included a 2-mill tax increase. Millage will be set at 119. The average homeowner will see an increase of $10.50.

The board also voted to approve a $37,118 expenditure to repair asphalt and replace carpet at the elementary center.

The board accepted the resignation of Misty Slavic, assistant to the superintendent. Jackson said Slavic accepted a position in the Freedom School.

All motions were passed unanimously with board members Harry Sabatasse and Marla Pendeville absent.

• Next meeting: 7:30 Aug. 12 at the elementary center library.
