An Illinois man was airlifted to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, Friday morning after he wrecked his pickup truck on Interstate 70 in North Franklin Township, about a mile west of the Chestnut Street exit.

Dennis Lee Hackl, 55, of Braidwood, Ill., was traveling east in the left lane about 9:25 a.m. when he lost control, according to state police. He then struck a steep embankment and traveled 100 feet before his truck overturned and rolled another 200 feet.

A UPMC-Presbyterian spokeswoman said Hackl was in critical condition.

Police said they are awaiting the results of lab tests to determine if Hackl was driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
