WAYNESBURG – A Bridgeville man who was arrested in May after he took his grandmother’s car without her permission pleaded guilty Tuesday before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman.

Christopher Lewis Morgan, 22, of 433 Montgomery Ave. was arrested by Cumberland Township police May 2 after police were called to a report of a car hitting a sign or traffic cones on Route 21 near Khedive.

Police said Morgan gave them a false name and told them the car belonged to his grandmother, Delores Decoteau. When police contacted Decoteau, she told them Morgan was her grandson and had taken her car without her permission.

Morgan was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, false identification to police and driving without a license. He was sentenced to 54 days to 23 ½ months in jail and given credit for the 54 days he had already served in jail. He also was fined $300 and ordered to pay $208 in restitution to his grandmother.
