A preliminary hearing for the Washington man accused of burglarizing a North Franklin Township restaurant was continued Wednesday.
Joseph David Boone, 20, of 1160 Fayette St., was arrested earlier this month on three counts each of burglary, criminal trespass and theft for burglarizing Angelo’s restaurant, 2109 North Franklin Drive.
Boone is suspected of entering the restaurant late June 8 or early June 9.
Township police Sgt. Dean Urbanic, who filed the charges against Boone, said an informant came to the police station with information that he overheard the defendant and another person talking about how they “robbed” Angelo’s.
Urbanic said the informant was able to give police details about the burglary that had not been made public. Boone reportedly approached the informant and demanded that he help “getting rid of some stuff.”
District Judge Robert Redlinger agreed to change Boone’s bond to $50,000, with 10 percent acceptable, instead of a straight bond. Boone was returned to the Washington County jail.
No new hearing date has been set. Police are continuing their investigation.
