WAYNESBURG – Five criminal defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman. They included the following:

Matthew Alan Myers, 36, of 3564 Morgantown Road, Smithfield; offenses -Driving under the influence of alcohol and two summary traffic violations. Myers was arrested Dec. 10, 2011 after a traffic stop near West George Street in Carmichaels. Cumberland Township Police said Myers overshot a passing lane and then braked hard to execute the turn. When they pulled him over, he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.124 percent. This was a second driving under the influence offense in 10 years for Myers; sentence – 90 days to 6 months in the Greene County Jail, 90 hours of community service, and ordered to pay $525 in fines, plus court costs and fees.

George Amos Cramer Jr., 30, of 4 Rose Circle, Smithfield; offenses – three counts of retail theft and two counts of criminal conspiracy. Cramer entered the Waynesburg Walmart on three separate dates to commit retail theft; Jan. 8, 2012, Jan. 10, 2012, and Jan. 12, 2012. In the first and second instances, Cramer was accompanied by another man who helped him steal a total of four Acer laptop computers and a Wii game system. On Jan. 12, 2012, Cramer entered the store alone, stealing a flat- screen television; sentence – one to five years in prison to be served concurrently to a sentence imposed in Fayette County. Cramer is ordered to pay restitution to Walmart in the amount of $1,997.88. He is eligible for the risk recidivism reduction incentive program after completing 9 months of his sentence.

Damon Joshua Reese, 20, of 313 Third St., Mather; offenses – possess of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by unlawful taking and defiant criminal trespass. Police said Reese was found stealing scrap metal from the railroad near Pine and Washington Streets in Jefferson Aug. 22. When police asked Reese for identification, he retrieved his wallet from inside an abandoned tire. According to police, beside the wallet was a syringe and a pack of cigarettes. Police said Reese tried to cover the syringe with the cigarette pack when he got his wallet. Reese told police the syringe was used for Suboxone; sentence – three years of probation, 150 hours of community service, and $600 in fines, plus court costs and fees.

Jerome Bune Yoders, 24, of 139 Spraggs Road, Spraggs; offenses – three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. A charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance was withdrawn. The charges stemmed from two separate instances. On Dec. 13, 2011, while being searched as a shoplifting suspect at the Waynesburg Walmart, Yoders emptied his pockets dropping two stamp bags of heroin. On Oct. 9, he was found inside his running vehicle passed out in the bay of Stucks Laser Car Wash on East High Street in Waynesburg Borough. Borough police said a cut straw was in plain view on the driver’s side floorboard. When they woke, Yoders and he exited the vehicle, they also saw a stamp bag of heroin sitting on the driver’s seat. Yoders admitted using heroin and 14 additional stamp bags were located when he emptied his pockets; sentence – two years of probation, 75 hours of community service and $500 in fines, plus court costs and fees.

Shawn Paul Daniels, 29, of 255 Grant St., Nemacolin; offense – bad checks. Daniels wrote a check to Coen Oil Co. in Cumberland Township for $800 knowing he did not have the money in his account to cover it. The company was assessed a $30 fee for the returned check; sentence – two years of probation and restitution to Coen Oil of $830.
