A West Brownsville woman was arrested by West Brownsville police Thursday after she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend the previous day with grilling tools.

Toni Nicole Pancoast, 27, of 3 Main St., is accused of assaulting James Shashura and then leaving the residence.

Shashura called police after returning home from Monongahela Valley Hospital, where he had gone for treatment. He told police he was at home cooking dinner on the grill about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when Pancoast returned home. He told police she was upset about her vehicle.

The two got into an argument. Pancoast allegedly threw food from the kitchen table onto the back porch. To avoid further confrontation, Shashura said he decided to leave. He told police Pancoast then took some photographs and other personal items outside and set them on fire. She then reportedly grabbed a plastic gasoline can and said she was going to burn down the house.

Shashura went back into the home. Pancoast allegedly followed him in and grabbed two knives from a butcher block. She then reportedly started chasing Shashura, who ran outside. Pancoast allegedly told Shashura that she was going to kill him.

Pancoast reportedly dropped the knives and picked up a grilling utensil that had a sharp end, using it to stab Shashura while again threatening to kill him, police said. Shashura fell to the ground and Pancoast allegedly hit him several times in the back of the head.

Police said Shashura’s mother arrived and told Pancoast to leave. Pancoast yelled more obscenities and again threatened to burn down the house before leaving in her vehicle, Shashura told police.

Pancoast was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and harassment. She was placed in the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
