An electrician formerly employed by California University of Pennsylvania who alleges age discrimination in termination of his employment had his case transferred from U.S. District Court to Washington County Court this week.

Patrick Grimes, 50, of Vestaburg, worked for the university from April 2001 until he lost his job Jan. 14, 2012.

Grimes was a full-time temporary employee who claims he applied for permanent work but was never selected.

Younger, less-experienced electricians were instead given the full-time position he sought, his suit claims.

Grimes also alleged that when he lost his job, a significantly younger man was hired as a replacement, and that there was electrical work that continued to be attended to on the campus.

Grimes claimed he lost his job in retaliation for filing an age discrimination suit against the university in 2008.

In the latest action transfered recently from federal court, Grimes seeks monetary damages, costs and attorney’s fees.
