WAYNESBURG – A Wind Ridge man pleaded guilty in Greene County Court Monday to a charge of homicide by vehicle.

Travis John McFadden, 20, of 105 Bristoria Road, was sentenced by Judge Farley Toothman to 3 years of county intermediate punishment.

McFadden was involved in a head-on collision in Jackson Township June 6 that claimed the life of Keith Allen Conrad, 54, of Morgantown, W.Va. Conrad was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at Route 18 and Blockhouse Run Road.

A Greene County coroner’s jury held Sept. 25 recommended that McFadden be charged with homicide by vehicle and recklessly endangering another person. The latter charge was merged Monday for sentencing purposes.

State police said McFadden was driving east, entering a curve, when his 2005 GMC Sierra pickup truck ran off the road onto the south berm. When he attempted to steer back onto the roadway, his truck crossed into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into Conrad’s 2010 Kia Soul. Police estimated McFadden’s speed at 75 mph in a 55 mph-area of Route 18. He also pleaded guilty to summary traffic violations that included driving over the posted speed limit.

McFadden will pay fines in excess of $2,500 plus court costs and fees.
