A body recovered in January in Wayne Township, Greene County, has been identified as a 16-year-old Star City, W.Va. girl who was reported missing from her home in July.

The body, found Jan. 16 in a remote area of the township, was identified as that of Skylar Neese, according to a release issued by William J. Ihlenfeld II, U.S. attorney for the northern district of West Virginia.

Neese was reported missing by her parents and was last seen July 6 on a surveillance video at the James Place Apartment where she lived.

The testing of the body to determine the identity was conducted by the FBI laboratory. The case is being investigated by the FBI and U.S. attorney’s office and is ongoing, according to the release.
