KITTANNING (AP) – A man has been jailed on charges he fought outside a Southwestern Pennsylvania bar with another man who later died, but not with causing the alleged victim’s death.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 27-year-old Dennis Rosenberger, of Kittanning, who was arraigned early Tuesday on charges of simple and aggravated assault and faces a March 27 preliminary hearing.

The Valley News Dispatch of Tarentum reported authorities were seeking witnesses in the death of 39-year-old James Sullivan, of Chicora, who hit his head on the pavement after he was allegedly felled by Rosenberger.

Sullivan died of a skull fracture and abdominal injuries, but authorities aren’t sure if others inflicted those injuries in what they’ve described as a series of altercations outside a bar about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Kittanning.
