ASTON – A suburban Philadelphia school board has expelled a teen actor who got into an altercation with his director while playing Daddy Warbucks in the musical “Annie.”

WTXF-TV says the Penn-Delco School Board voted 6-3 Wednesday night to expel 17-year-old Sun Valley High School senior Sam Schmucker.

He told the board last week that he got into the altercation with director John Baxter after his girlfriend complained to him about something he said. Schmucker says he grabbed Baxter by the shirt and used “colorful language.”

Relatives argued passionately at the hearing that expulsion wasn’t warranted and might hurt Schmucker’s chances of getting into college. Baxter told the station that he had no hand in Schmucker’s punishment and never sought expulsion.

Schmucker’s attorney vows to challenge the action in court.
