Primary election ballot positions were chosen this week in the race for two Washington County Common Court of Common Pleas judicial seats.
The name of Michael Lucas will appear first on the Democratic ballot in the May 21 primary. Lane Turturice drew the top position on the Republican ticket, according to a drawing for ballot order Harrisburg.
Democrats and Republicans will each be nominating two candidates for the Nov. 5 general election. The candidates are vying for one of two vacant judicial seats.
Following Lucas on the Democratic ballot are Alan Benyak, Charles Kurowski, Thomas Fallert, Peter V. Marcoline III, Valarie Costanzo, Blane Black and Turturice.
The order on the GOP ballot after Turturice is Fallert, Lucas, Costanzo, Kurowski, Black, Benyak and Marcoline.
Both Lucas and Turturice have run previously for judge. Judge Gary Gilman, the Democratic nominee, edged Turturice, the Republican nominee, in 2011.
Lucas finished fourth on the Democratic ballot out of nine candidates and in sixth out of 10 candiates on the Republican ballot in 2005 when voters were also electing two judges.
The two judicial seats were vacated last year with the retirements of Judge Paul Pozonsky and Judge Janet Moschetta Bell.
