PITTSBURGH (AP) — For the first time in decades, more people are moving to the Pittsburgh region than leaving.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Census data show the seven-county region’s population rose by nearly 4,000 to 2.3 million over the past two years, while real estate firms say they’ve helped hundreds of families relocate to the area.

Experts cite the Marcellus Shale gas boom and Pittsburgh’s transformation from a steel-industry town into a center for technology, health care and banking.
