COSHOCTON, Ohio – Authorities say a central Ohio sheriff’s deputy was injured in a crash during a pursuit that ended with another deputy shooting a suspect, who later died.

Coshocton County Sheriff Timothy Rogers said one deputy was treated at a hospital and released after the Tuesday night crash. Authorities said Wednesday that the man who was shot had died, but they weren’t releasing his name.

The Coshocton Tribune reports a New Concord police officer had tried to make a traffic stop and pursued a truck that wouldn’t pull over. That officer dropped the chase but passed information to deputies, who found the vehicle. Their pursuit ended in the crash and shooting.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was asked to investigate.

Coshocton is about 75 miles east of Columbus.
