North Strabane Township supervisors Tuesday approved two conditional use requests, making way for a 69-unit senior housing facility and a development of 74 single-family homes.

Public hearings on MV Affordable Housing’s proposed “senior independent living facility” on 16 acres on Weavertown Road and Bove Development Corp.’s proposed Fox Ridge development on 45.2 acres on Willow Street were held March 14.

MV Affordable Housing had asked for special permission to build its facility in a R-3 residential zoned district. The supervisors approved the request but stipulated that a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation highway occupancy permit be obtained for the entrance to the development from Weavertown Road and that a buffer area must be provided along the property line adjacent to the entrance drive.

Bove had asked the township for special permission to have a 1,700-foot, cul-de-sac street rather than the 1,200-foot cul-de-sac as specified in the township’s subdivision and land development ordinance. Supervisors approved this request with the condition that township representatives be entitled to inspect the property prior to its opening to ensure compliance.

The supervisors also approved a preliminary subdivision and preliminary site plan for Phase 6 of Majestic Hills for 18 single-family lots and open space on Bentwood Drive, and preliminary subdivision for Park Place 2 for three lots off of Route 19 and a preliminary site plan for the same project for 206 multi-family units on 23.78 acres off Route 19.
