WAYNESBURG – Several criminal defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday before Greene County Judge Farley Toothman. They included the following:

Price Anthony Gipe, 28, of 1855 Garards Fort Road, Waynesburg; offense – retail theft. Gipe was arrested May 30 after he was seen by security personnel at the Waynesburg Walmart placing headlight bulbs inside his jacket and exiting the store. The merchandise was valued at $47.88; sentence – 5 days to one year in jail, 90 hours’ community service, $100 fines, plus fees and court costs. Gipe was also ordered to stay out of the Waynesburg Walmart.

Nathan Andrew Roberts, 25, of 141 Hillman St., Greensboro; offenses – receiving stolen property and four alcohol-related summary violations. Police arrested Roberts Sept. 12 after receiving a phone call from an unidentified source that Roberts left their residence in what he claimed to be a stolen vehicle that he intended to set fire to. The caller told police what direction Roberts drove and they began canvassing. A vehicle that fit the description given by the caller was located at 207 Baker Lane in Cumberland Township. Roberts was on the front porch. The registration was in the name of Edward Prinkney of Perryopolis who acknowledged the car had been stolen the night before; sentence – pending presentencing investigation.

Jason Ryan Rush, 31, 287 Huffman St., Waynesburg; offenses – possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia. Waynesburg Borough police Officer Tom Ankrom was called to 287 Huffman St. on Sept. 10 for a possible drug overdose. Ankrom found Rush lying on the living room floor with empty stamp bags on a nearby table and a needle on the floor. He said he checked for a pulse and signs of breathing. Finding neither, he used an automated external defibrillator to access Rush’s condition. The device said to begin CPR without shocking Rush. Ankrom, with the assistance of Rush’s girlfriend, Brittany Smallman, performed CPR on Rush until emergency services personnel arrived on scene and were able to revive him. Additional stamp bags found in the residence tested positive for heroin; sentence – 3 years probation, $250 fines, $32 restitution to Waynesburg Borough, 150 hours’ community service, plus fees and court costs.

Edwin Lee Shriver, 29, 175 W. Elm St., Apt. 2, Waynesburg; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol and a summary violation on April 15 and possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana on Aug. 22. On April 15, police found Shriver walking along Route 19 at Orchard Road. The truck he was driving was found in a ditch along Gordon Hill Road. He told police he was attempting to turn it around when he backed into the ditch. Police said Shriver showed signs of intoxication and was driving on a suspended license. His blood-alcohol content was 0.224 percent. He was arrested on Aug. 22 when, acting on a warrant, police picked him up at the intersection of Route 21 and Ely Avenue and found a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in his pocket; sentence -72 hours to six months in jail, 150 hours community service, $1,300 fines, plus fees and court costs.

Heidi Lynn Hoge, 22, 144 ½ W. Wayne St., Apt. C, Waynesburg; offenses – accident resulting in death or injury, accident involving damage to an unattended vehicle and four summary violations. Hoge was arrested on Oct. 26 after being involved in an accident in on Route 88 in Jefferson Township. Police said Hoge left the scene of the accident and eventually abandoned her vehicle when it ran out of gas near Bacon Run Road. The other driver, Carol Garber, told police she was traveling south when Hoge entered into her lane of travel. Hoge said she fled because she did not have insurance. She eventually called police and turned herself in; sentence – two years probation, 50 hours’ community service, $250 fines, $4,644.97 restitution, fees and court costs.

Stacy Lynn Salisbury, 38, 301 ½ Fairview Ave., Masontown; offenses – three counts possession of drug paraphernalia. Salisbury was arrested on Sept. 22 after she admitted that three empty heroin stamp bags found inside an envelope with her identification left on the counter at the Paisley Sheetz Store were hers; sentence – 15 days to one year in jail, 125 hours’ community service, $500 fines, fees and court costs.

Eric David Lewis, 27, 1300 Sixth St., Apt. B, Waynesburg; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol and a summary violation. Lewis was arrested on July 22 after police found him to be intoxicated during a stop for an inoperable headlight in Waynesburg Borough. His blood-alcohol content was 0.159 percent; sentence – 30 days to 6 months in jail deferred until April 1, $775 fines, fees and court costs.
