A Washington man died Wednesday night at a Pittsburgh hospital after crashing his motorcycle earlier that evening on Route 221 at the intersection of Rural Valley Road in Blaine Township.

William J. Saccani, 62, was pronounced dead at 11 p.m. at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital of injuries to his abdomen, said a spokeswoman for the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.

State police said Saccani was driving north on Route 221 about 8:35 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle. It slid across the road through the intersection with Rural Valley and came to rest at the end of the intersection with him still on the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet.

Police said his blood-alcohol content was 1 1/2 times the 0.08 percent limit presumed for intoxication.

He was the eighth person to die on Washington County roads in 2013.
