Session on New Hire Reporting Program planned for Tuesday

WAYNESBURG – Pennsylvania CareerLink and the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting an educational session covering the Pennsylvania New Hire Program at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the CareerLink office, 4 West High St., Waynesburg.

Seating is limited to the first 30 individuals who RSVP to 724-852-2900, extension 229.

Brian Gilhool, program analyst with the Center for Workforce Information and Analysis for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will present a workshop for the Commonwealth’s New Hire Reporting Program.

The information collected for the New Hire Reporting Program is used to save employers and tax payers millions of dollars a year.

New Hire Reporting Program provides child support enforcement agencies with the information required to locate non-custodial parents and ensure they comply with child support orders, helping children receive the financial support they need.

The program also:

• Helps to prevent fraud and abuse of public assistance programs such as Medicaid and food stamps, by allowing states to cross-match their new hire database with those of other programs.

• Benefits employers bottom line by reducing and preventing fraudulent unemployment and workers compensation payments.

• Identifies and recovers fraudulent unemployment and workers compensation benefits from individuals who are employed.

• Supports labor market information and research via new hire data mart.
