Two Washington County residents accused of setting fires, one in the cab of a vehicle and the other in an apartment building hallway, waived their cases to court Wednesday.

Melinda L. Headlee, 40, of 1145 First St., Denbo, and Philip J. Thaxton Jr., 33, of 353 Ames Road, Bentleyville, were scheduled for preliminary hearings in Central Court before District Judge Curtis Thompson.

Headlee is charged by state police with arson, criminal mischief and driving under suspension. She is accused of setting fire to the cab of a pickup truck owned by her estranged boyfriend, Donald Price of Marianna, last month.

Thompson amended her bond from $20,000 to a $5,000 percentage bond. She remained in the Washington County jail Thursday afternoon.

Thaxton is accused of setting a fire in the hallway of an apartment building at 26 S. Main St., Ellsworth, Oct. 24. He was charged by state police with three counts of arson. He is free on $25,000 unsecured bond.
