A Fayette County man pleaded guilty Friday to robbing a North Charleroi convenience store clerk at gunpoint in 2011.

Washington County Judge John F. DiSalle, upon accepting the plea to one count of robbery, sentenced Darrin E. Mackey, 21, of Republic, to 2 1/2 to 5 years in prison for robbing Cougar Mini Mart on Route 88, a court official said.

Mackey was scheduled to appear in court next week for an administrative trial when he took a plea deal with prosecutors, who withdrew charges of theft, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment state police initially filed against him in the case.

He robbed a store clerk while wearing a mask and gloves about 11 p.m. Dec. 7, 2011, and pointed his gun at another’s face, forcing her to run into a back room.
