LATROBE (AP) – A man abducted a 6-year-old boy from his yard, brought him home to play video games, then raped him and abandoned him in a park late at night, police said.

Brian Timothy Lynch, 45, of Confluence, was arrested Sunday and is facing two counts of kidnapping, rape and other charges, police said.

The boy was playing in his yard in a rural township about 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday when Lynch allegedly grabbed the boy and brought him to his car. An unidentified 17-year-old boy was also in Lynch’s car at the time, police said, but it’s not clear if the teenager will face charges.

Lynch took the boy for a walk on a bike trail, went to purchase ice cream cones and then played video games at his apartment with him, police said.

Lynch allegedly then raped the boy in his car and finally left him near a park in Latrobe, about 35 miles from his home. Police found the boy there around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police said Lynch confessed. He was being held in the Fayette County jail, unable to make $250,000 bond. No attorney is listed on court papers.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 15.
