Family gets $15.6 million in DUI lawsuit

PITTSBURGH (AP) – The family of a 7-year-old girl who was killed by a drunken driver after he left a Pittsburgh restaurant has reached a $15.6 million settlement in the case.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday that the German-themed Hofbrauhaus also agreed to try to reduce customer intoxication and drunken driving.
Nicole and Mark Cleland, of South Park, had claimed the restaurant was liable for their daughter Lexa’s death in December 2010. The 7-year-old girl was killed instantly when her mother’s car was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by Travis Isiminger, of Holbrook, Greene County.
Isiminger pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and was sentenced to six to 12 years in prison.
The lawsuit was filed against both Hofbrauhaus and Isiminger, whose insurance will be responsible for paying $100,000 of the settlement.
