A 26-year-old California man told Monongahela police Saturday morning that he was robbed after he went to Finleyville to visit a woman he had met through Craigslist.
Arrested were Kristopher Laughlin, 29, of Clairton, and Aimee Golden, 38, of 3603 Washington Ave., Finleyville.
The man, whom police would not identify, told police he responded to a dating advertisement for casual encounters on Craigslist. He made arrangements by both email and telephone to meet with “Aimee,” said police Chief Brian Tempest.
When he arrived at 3603 Washington Ave., just before 3 a.m., “Aimee” was there. The man told police he recognized her from the photo on the dating site. She later was identified as Aimee Golden, who invited him into the home.
“She told him to hold on because she was going to get another friend,” Tempest said. “A man came out of the house. His face was covered and he had a baseball bat in one hand and a butcher knife in the other hand. He took the cellphone and money and told the victim to leave.”
The man told police he was in fear for his life and complied.
Police were at the Sunoco station, also on Washington Avenue, when the man came in and told an officer he had been robbed, Tempest said.
While the victim was talking with the officer, they saw a woman identified as Golden walking with Laughlin in the direction of the store. Golden told police she had nothing to do with the robbery and blamed Laughlin, Tempest said.
The victim’s cellphone was found in the residence at 3603 Washington. Also found inside the house were a baseball bat and butcher knife.
Both were arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson. Laughlin is charged with robbery, conspiracy, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. Golden, who is charged with conspiracy and reckless endangerment, was put in jail on $50,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing for the pair is scheduled for June 4 before District Judge James Ellis.
