Two arrested: Two people previously convicted of felony drug charges and not permitted to possess firearms were arrested Tuesday by state police after four guns were found in their home. Clint Allen Matthews Sr., 31, and Jessica Ann Childs, 32, both of 108 Deerlick Station Road, Nineveh, each were charged with persons not to possess, use, control or transfer firearms, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. State police said they went to the couple’s home after receiving an anonymous tip about drug activity there. Childs answered the door and invited the trooper in. After being told about the information regarding drug activity, Childs consented to a search of the home. She also indicated there were guns and marijuana in a gun safe. Childs was advised of her rights and again consented to the search, telling troopers where keys to the gun safe could be found. A shotgun and three rifles were found in the safe. Police also found a small bag of suspected marijuana, cigarette rolling papers, pipes, scales and a container with suspected marijuana seeds in the bedroom of the home. The two were arraigned before District Judge Lou Dayich and released on $5,000 unsecured bond each. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15.

Man charged: Joseph C. Bertovich Jr., 36, of Waynesburg, was arrested by Waynesburg police for allegedly throwing rocks at passing vehicles on West High Street at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday. Three vehicles were damaged by the rocks and the drivers of two of the vehicles were able to identify Bertovich as the person who threw them, police said. Witnesses said Bertovich was sitting along a guardrail and throwing objects at passing vehicles. Police said Bertovich smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was in possession of two cans of beer. He was charged with three counts of propelling missiles into occupied vehicles, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
