WAYNESBURG – A Prosperity man who pleaded guilty Tuesday to fleeing police and driving under the influence of alcohol and a separate offense of theft from a motor vehicle was sentenced by Judge Farley Toothman to 1 year and 180 days to 10 years in jail.

Mark Cameron Good Jr., 27, of 136 Good Hill Road, pleaded guilty to fleeing or attempting to elude police, escape from detention, DUI, third offense, and eight summary traffic violations, all stemming from a traffic stop Aug. 5.

Good, riding a motorcycle, fled when Waynesburg police attempted to stop him for speeding on High Street. He lost control of the motorcycle and dropped it at the bottom of Washington Street, police said. After being handcuffed, Good fled on foot and was apprehended about a block away.

Police said Good smelled of alcohol. A blood test indicated a blood-alcohol content of 0.171 percent.

For the second offense, Good pleaded guilty to two counts each of theft from a motor vehicle, access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

In December, Good used a gas card that was stolen from a vehicle owned by Jay D. Enterprises to purchase gas three times at the Pacific Pride gas station. The purchases, totaling $151.26, were recorded on a gas station security camera. They were made after Good was terminated from Jay D. Enterprises.

In addition to the jail sentence, Good was ordered to pay $5,125 in fines.

In other cases, James Leon Roach, 48, of 252 ½ Bridge St., Waynesburg, who earlier pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal trespass, was sentenced Thursday to 24 to 60 months in jail and fined $750.

Roach was arrested Nov. 30 attempting to steal scrap metal from a garage on Garards Fort Road in Whiteley Township owned by Alpha Natural Resources.

Nathan A. Roberts, 25, of 141 Hillman St., Greensboro, who earlier pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, public drunkenness, driving while his operating privileges were suspended or revoked and accidents involving damage to a vehicle or property, was sentenced to 5 years in the county intermediate punishment program.

As part of the program, Roberts must serve 6 months in jail and 60 days in Teen Challenge. He must pay a fine of $1,500 and restitution totaling $8,340.09. Roberts was arrested on Sept. 12 by Cumberland Township police and was in possession of a stolen vehicle that had been wrecked.
