• Discussion: Council members announced that the road crew replaced a part on the borough’s rented street sweeper, which had been out of commission. Residents can expect street sweeper service to resume next week.
Construction on the lower Center Avenue project, also known as Mud Lane, will begin within the next few weeks. Washington County Redevelopment Authority will repave the roadway as part of a renovation project.
The borough’s cleanup day will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday.

• Action: The McDonald police department made more additions to its expanding force.
Council members voted to add officers Michael Dhanse of Bridgeville and Abigail Galbraith of Canonsburg to the force on a part-time basis.
The purchase of a new police cruiser was also approved. A 2013 Ford Explorer was purchased for $40,000, which included fitting the SUV for police duty.
McDonald police also provide law enforcement for Robinson Township, Burgettstown and Midway

• Action: The authority board approved an agreement with Cecil Township on easements the authority purchased in order to move utilities and widen the roadway on Southpointe Boulevard in Southpointe. Plans to upgrade Horizon Vue Drive, which the authority owns, to bring it up to township standards, also were approved. The improvements include curbs, lights, finished asphalt and sidewalks before the township assumes ownership.
The board approved the extension of Woodcliff Drive in Southpointe after the authority brings it up to standards.
The board approved closing on the sale of two parcels behind Town Center and Mylan to Quattro Investment Group LP. A date has not been set, although Bill Sember, director of operations for the authority, said it should be in June.
