Mental Health Association plans annual dinner

The Mental Health Association of Washington County will host its annual dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Southpointe Golf Club. The theme for this year’s awareness campaign is “Live Your Life Well.” The guest speaker will be Timothy Kimmel, Washington County human services director, who will speak about the impact of the Human Services Block Grant on services.

The annual MHA awards will also be presented. The Robert A. Harms Professional of the Year Award will be presented to Dr. Monica Speicher. She is being recognized for her participation in the We Care homeless outreach program and the Arbuckle Clinic at Washington City Mission and her dedication in serving the homeless by bringing medical care to the needy.

The Clara L. Deems Neighbor of the Year Award will be give to the Observer-Reporter for its exceptional reporting on mental health issues in Washington County. The O-R published a series of articles spotlighting the issue of local homelessness.
