A Trinity Area School Board member is resigning from his seat.

Shawn Mulac of South Strabane Township submitted his resignation April 29, citing work obligations. Mulac is employed by the Department of Homeland Security.

Mulac was appointed to a two-year term in January 2012 by the school board. He was filling the seat previously held by John Keisling, who resigned in December 2011 after he was was elected to serve on the South Strabane Township Board of Supervisors. Mulac’s term is set to expire in November.

The board plans to vote on Mulac’s resignation at its May 16 meeting.

The school board then has 30 days to publicize the opening, accept resumes and appoint a new board member.

Mulac did not return phone calls Friday night.
