BARTONSVILLE – Authorities say a woman was killed when she fell from a bridge onto the berm of an eastern Pennsylvania interstate.

The Pocono Record says a driver found 46-year-old Linda Serrano of East Stroudsburg near the guardrail of I-80 West in Bartonsville just before midnight Saturday.

Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen said Serrano was conscious when she was taken to Pocono Medical Center.

He says she told doctors that she was walking toward Route 33 where it crosses the interstate when she lost her footing and fell about 30 feet, landing on the berm of the interstate.

Allen says Serrano’s condition deteriorated and she was pronounced dead shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday.

An autopsy is scheduled Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
