CHARLEROI – Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services will host an open house Thursday to showcase $1.8 million in expansions to its Charleroi headquarters.

Tours of the new 32,000-square-foot facility will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at 250 Chamber Plaza, a former Montgomery Ward department store where SPHS moved its operations in 2006.

Services offered in the expanded area include: Riverside Horizons, a therapeutic activity center for intellectually disabled adults; In-Home Aging Services; a mental health partial hospitalization; and a social rehabilitation program.

Renovations began last year with funding from the local share of the proceeds from The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in North Strabane Township.

With the additional space in Chamber Plaza, SPHS now employs more than 350 people at its Charleroi site.
