A 13-year-old Cecil Township boy will be charged by Canonsburg police with terroristic threats and theft for allegedly stealing a master set of keys from Canonsburg Junior High School and telling a health care counselor he wanted to kill one of his teachers.

Police initially were called Wednesday when the boy reportedly took a set of keys from a teacher. The school district initially planned to handle the theft internally, although police were notified.

A few days later, police were again contacted after the boy’s social worker said the boy admitted in a session that he wanted to commit a homicide and threatened to kill a teacher with a gun.

Police Sgt. Al Coghill said the boy has a history of psychiatric issues.

The boy will be charged in a juvenile allegation. He also will be evaluated through the juvenile probation system.
