A 15-year-old Hopewell Township girl faces a juvenile charge of unsworn falsification after she falsely told state police she was kidnapped Sunday night while walking her dog on Wotring Road near Buffalo Road, Hopewell.

The girl told police she was walking her dog about 8 p.m. when she was forced into a green pickup truck by two teens. About an hour later, they returned to the Buffalo Road area and she was able to get away unharmed, she said.

After investigating, state police determined she voluntarily got into the vehicle and made up the story because she wasn’t permitted to be out riding around with boys.

Trooper Sarah Teagarden said the girl was out walking her dog when the boys pulled up in the truck and she talked with them. Her father, who was leaving for work, saw her talking with them before they drove away, and he alerted his wife. The boys apparently turned around, and she got in the vehicle with them.

The girl’s mother and grandfather went out looking for the truck and boxed it in on a township road. The boys apologized and left, and the girl then told her mother she had been taken against her will.
