• Action: Supervisors voted to make some upgrades to three township parks. Responding to a request from parks and recreation board member Penny Steggles, supervisors voted unanimously on motions to purchase new grills and a gazebo. New permanent, concrete-embedded steel grills will be purchased for both Driscoll and Community parks with a price tag not to exceed $500 each. A new gazebo will also be purchased at a price not to exceed $3,500. The gazebo will replace a pavilion that was recently removed from Streator Park.

Steggles said the purchases would help the parks and recreation board keep up rental rates for the parks since the Driscoll and Community parks do not have kitchen facilities.

A subdivision plan was approved for a property owned by Steve Curry and Mona Canfield on Horner Avenue.

A change-of-work order for construction on the police department building was approved for an additional cost of $9,200 for unexpected plumbing and water expenses. The motion passed with a 3-1 vote with supervisors Ed Mazur, Jack Keisling and Tom Moore in favor and Dan Piatt opposed. Supervisor Robert Koman was not present. Township manager John Stickle said the township was still on budget for the roughly $2.3 million structure, with the change order coming out of an contingency fund set aside to pay for such costs.

Supervisors also unanimously voted to accept a refund of $4,600 from contractor R. D. Stewart for work on the police building because Pennsylvania American Water Co. installed a fire hydrant on Smith Drive near the the entrance free of charge.

The parks and recreation board asked for volunteers for the fourth annual Community Day at Billy Bell Park on June 1. Those interested in participated were asked to call the township building at 724-225-9055.

• Next meeting: 6:30 p.m. May 28 at the municipal building
