Ringgold’s high school principal, who has been off the job since the district suspended him three weeks ago for unknown reasons, resigned from his position this week.
Dwayne Homa offered his resignation and Ringgold School Board accepted it by a 7-2 vote at its Wednesday night meeting.
School officials would not disclose the reasons for the suspension in late April, nor would they speculate what prompted his resignation.
“He just submitted a letter of resignation at that (school board) meeting,” Ringgold Superintendent Karen Polkabla said. “It’s a personnel matter, and I can’t comment on that.”
Polkabla said the board also approved a resignation package for Homa, although she would not elaborate on whether it contained monetary compensation or other benefits. The board agreed to that package by a 7-2 vote.
Ringgold School Board President Mariann Bulko said she could not comment on the reason for the suspension or Homa’s resignation.
Since Homa’s suspension, assistant high school principals Jason Marvin and Jason Minniti have been working together to fill his position.
Homa became principal at Ringgold High School in 2004 after leaving Canon-McMillan School District. His salary in 2008 was set at $96,771.
Homa, of Carroll Township, could not be reached for comment on his resignation.
