A Cecil Township man was charged with making a phone threat to a candidate running for the municipality’s board of supervisors two weeks before Election Day.

Cecil Township police Monday charged Merl E. Williams, 43, with making terroristic threats after investigators said he left a voicemail on supervisor candidate Cindy Fisher’s cellphone and told her she would “need an ambulance” is she ever knocked on his door to campaign.

The call came from a blocked number May 6, although police said they were able to subpoena phone records to trace the call to Williams’ home at 2674 Reissing Road. Officers interviewed his roommate, David Martincic, at the home before Williams came to the department and confessed to the making the call, police said.

Cecil police Detective Mark Marcucci wrote in court documents that Williams made the call because “he was mad at Fisher from postings and pictures on her Facebook page regarding another candidate” running for the same position. Williams will be sent a summons in the mail.

Fisher is running against Frank Egizio and James Passieu on the Democratic side of today’s primary election for Cecil Township supervisor.
