Bowlby to hold Keep Me Safe program

WAYNESBURG – The Family Literacy and Children’s Departments at Bowlby Public Library has announced its annual Keep Me Safe series will be held in June.

The three-part series is designed for family members to participate together, along with activities, crafts and snacks.

The series kicks off from 10 a.m. to noon June 1, with two local fire departments being present at the library. Center Township Volunteer Fire Department will demonstrate fire safety. Sparky the fire dog will also be on-site entertaining the kids and sharing fire safety tips. Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department will be giving a tour of their fire engine.

Keep Me Healthy will be held from 10 a.m. to noon June 8. Patrons 12 and older can receive free infant, child and adult CPR certification, while younger children will be able to participate in various fun, hands-on activities promoting health, safety and well-being with local pediatrician Dr. Daniel Church. Class size for CPR certification is limited. To register, call Bowlby Library at 724-627-9776.

The series will wrap-up with Keep Me Protected from 10 a.m. to noon June 15. Brian Tennant and partner, K-9 Officer Dagen, will conduct a demonstration of the various skills of a police dog. FBI personnel will also be on hand to offer tips for keeping children safe, as well as provide free inkless fingerprinting services for children. For more information, call 724-627-9776.
