ROGERSVILLE – West Greene Middle School students participated in the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Math-A-Thon program April 29.

Math-A-Thon is an educational program that teaches kids the importance of math, while helping children with cancer and other deadly diseases.

Middle school students completed between 85 and 120 grade-level math problems each in exchange for donations from sponsors. This year’s Math-A-Thon was held in all West Greene Middle School math classrooms. Eighth-grade math teacher Shelly Richardson coordinated this year’s event.

Top fundraiser was Levi Saccamano, who brought in $610. Through their efforts students were able to raise $2,155 to help kids at St. Jude’s and were recognized at the middle school awards ceremony.

Anyone wishing to donate or to coordinate a Math-A-Thon at their school can find information at www.mathathon.org.
