Drug charges: Mary Hall, 31, of 113 Boyle Ave., Canonsburg, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver crack after allegedly selling the drug to an undercover state police vice trooper May 7, 2011. The alleged sale took place at the rear of a house in the 500 block of Tannehill St. She was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in the Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Attempted assault: Wayne Bates, 20, of 609 N. Main St., Houston, will be charged by Canonsburg police with attempted assault and having a prohibited offensive weapon after he allegedly threatened to use a Taser on Brenda Yarbrough of Canonsburg during a confrontation Monday at Canonsburg Town Park. The Taser was confiscated by police. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
One injured: Colleen Yarbrough, 50, of Canonsburg, was injured Wednesday when her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Bridget Furbee, 54, of Bridgeport, W.Va., on Interstate 79 north near the Southpointe exit, Cecil, state police said. Yarbrough had slowed for traffic created by another crash. Furbee will be cited for following too closely. State police did not provide information on the other crash.
One-vehicle accident: Shawn Gallagher of Muse was transported to Canonsburg General Hospital following a one-vehicle accident at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday on Muse-Bishop Road, township police said. Gallagher, 38, told police he reached for a cigarette in the vehicle and lost control while he was traveling north. The vehicle struck a mailbox and traveled through the yard of 430 Muse-Bishop before striking a utility pole and a tree, police said. The vehicle ended up on its passenger side, trapping Gallagher inside. Cecil (No. 29 Muse) Volunteer Fire Department extricated Gallagher. Initially, Gallagher said he was not injured, but he was later transported to the hospital.
Teen assaulted: Jacob E. Sherman, 18, of 902 Duvall Road, Fallowfield Township, a senior at Charleroi Area High School, is accused by Charleroi Regional police of striking his unnamed 15-year-old former girlfriend in the head with a book at the school about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, court records show. He is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct and free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Arrested on warrant: Michael J. Dooley Jr., 24, of 11 Wharf St., Donora, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant on charges filed stemming from a May 11 traffic stop by Donora police on Washington Road near First Street. According to police, Dooley was stopped for speeding. Police said they found suspected heroin. While in the police car, he reportedly tried to hide paraphernalia under the seat. Dooley was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, hindering apprehension and speeding. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Assault arrest: Ernest L. Majors, 29, of 454 Fourth St., Donora, was arrested Thursday on a warrant after he allegedly drove off, dragging the mother of his girlfriend. Majors and Angela Stringa were fighting Wednesday in a vehicle when Stringa’s 41-year-old mother, Sequoia Stringa, intervened. Majors allegedly shoved her and then drove off, dragging the woman. Sequoia Stringa had to be flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. Majors was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and driving under suspension. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Mixer stolen: A blue-and-yellow mortar mixer owned by Mark Yemc Masonry of Murrysville was reported stolen Wednesday from Frankie I’s construction site, 1180 Mapleview Drive, North Strabane police said.
Burglary reported: A shop saw and a chain saw were stolen from a building at 420 Venetia Road between May 23 and 5:17 p.m. Wednesday, township police said. Millington Excavating rents a portion of the building owned by Dossi Contracting, where the items were stored. The door was pried open and stolen were a Stihl 440 white-and-orange chain saw valued at $1,100, and a Stihl orange and white shop saw valued at $1,800, police said.
Woman faces charges: Marie G. Conklin, 37, of 536 Beau St., will face public drunkenness and drug-related charges after city police said they found a crack pipe in her possession after she was arrested for being intoxicated on West Walnut Street early Thursday morning. Police also filed prostitution charges against Conklin related to a July incident in which she was observed waving down a vehicle. According to court documents, the driver told police Conklin had solicited money in exchange for sex acts. Charges were filed through the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Drug charges: Kelly Jo Katko, 24, of 33 Griffith Ave., was charged Thursday by city police with drug offenses and driving with an expired license for an incident in which she was pulled over with an expired registration in December. Police said they found 10 bags of heroin, seven needles, crack and empty heroin bags. Charges were filed through the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
