Greene County Maintenance Manager Jerome Simkovic announced the following tentative work plan starting Monday. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.
The schedule is as follows:
• Patch paving will take place on Route 19, Greene Street, Waynesburg Borough.
• Bridge cleaning will take place on Route 218, Blacksville Road from Route 2018, Kirby Road intersection to the new overpass bridge south of Margaret Bell Miller Middle School and on Route 1007 near Rices Landing and Dry Tavern areas.
• Community Work Program litter detail will collect roadside litter along Route 18 from Rogersville, Center Township, to the West Virginia state line, Freeport Township.
• Bridge scour hole fill operations will take place on Route 3016 near Mud Lick Road, Aleppo Township, and backfill activities on Route 3006, near Jollytown and Hero, Gilmore Township.
• New under-drain will be installed in various locations along Route 3007, Blockhouse Road, Gilmore Township, to Triumph, Jackson Township.
• Concrete culvert rehabilitation and bridge maintenance will take place on Route 1021 from Carmichaels to Bailey’s Crossroads, Cumberland Township.
• Shoulder cutting/grading and unpaved grading will be completed on Route 2003 (Big Shannon Run) from the West Virginia state line and Creek Road, Perry Township, to Greene Street, Franklin Township.
• Slide repair will continue on Route 2003, (Buckeye Road); Perry Township. The road is closed.
• Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced and complaints will be addressed on various state routes throughout Greene County.
• Additional information from Green Acres Contracting Co.: Bridge bearing lubrication and cleaning will take place Monday. Route 2006 will be affected for two hours while the I-79 bridge is serviced. On Tuesday, Route 2018 and 2030 will be affected for a total of five hours with work being conducted for two hours during daylight and three hours during hours of darkness. All activities will require lane closures in one direction.
